Canadian Citizenship application Us

US and Canadian Citizenship If you’re thinking about transferring your permanent residence status into full citizenship status then you probably have a couple of questions involving the application process. Luckily we’re simplified the process for you by outlining the information below.

Before you can apply to become a US or Canadian citizen you must proof that you are a permanent resident. That means you have official proof, such as a landing card or a green card in America that shows you are allowed to work and live in America. If you don’t, then you are considered an illegal alien and will most likely not be able to stay.

The Canadian Citizen Application In order to become a Canadian citizenship you need to undergo the following five steps: 1. Fill in the application with all the documentation 2. Pay the required fee. 3. If approved, study for an exam. 4. Take an exam for citizenship. 5. If you pass, attend a ceremony and take a Citizenship Oath.

Completing the Application Form The application form will contain a series of instructions. In addition to filling out the required questions such as name, place of birth, occupation, etc, you will need to include proof of your permanent residence, two pieces of identification such as a birth certificate and a passport, two signed passport photos stating that the picture is of you and a receipt for your payment fee of 0 CAD for adults and 0 CAD for children.

Once the application form is completed you will need to mail the forms into the Citizens and Immigration of Canada Office. Visit the CIC website to obtain and address and any more details about the application process.

Once the application has been accepted you will be able to move on to the test, ceremony and acceptance of a Canadian citizen. It’s also important to remember that, in under many country rules, such as Australian and British Immigration laws, you are able to keep your old citizenship when becoming a Canadian citizen. However, many other countries, such as America, state that you must become ‘disloyal’ to your other country upon swearing the Citizenship Oath.

The American Citizen Application To become an American citizen through naturalization you must have been a permanent resident (with a green card) for five years, or three years if you are married to an American.

The process to become an American citizen is similar to Canada and fairly straight forward. It includes the following five steps: 1. Prepare for the citizenship application. 2. Submit the complete and accurate application form including all necessary attachments and documentation to the correct Immigration office. 3. If your application is accepted, prepare for the Citizenship test and interview. 4. Write the test and attend the interview to prove you know and understand the basic knowledge of America and can speak English. 5. Attend the ceremony and take an Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America.
